Before you ask

The questions we are usually asked first.

How far does it actually reach?

Range comes from the radio you attach, not from the platform. Field testing measured 421 m of stable two-way messaging on a low-cost handheld walkie-talkie and validated LoRa beyond 1,180 m. With proper amateur-band radios the same system is expected to reach several kilometres. We measure it on your terrain during the demonstration rather than asking you to trust a number.

What happens when the battery runs out?

The solar panel powers the unit during the day and tops up the battery; the 8-hour reserve carries it through the night or heavy cloud. In practice a unit runs indefinitely with no grid power at all. Larger battery packs are available where a longer margin is required.

Is it legal to operate where we are?

Radios connect externally, so units are fitted with hardware already type-approved in your market — which is how the same platform stays compliant across jurisdictions. Our local partners handle radio procurement and regulatory confirmation as part of deployment.

We have no dedicated IT staff. Can we still run it?

Yes. Open the case, power on, and the local network is live in minutes; users connect with the phones they already carry. Operator training is delivered in the local language and handover is documented. First-line support comes from the local partner, with remote second-line support behind them.

How is this different from satellite internet?

They are different categories rather than competing options. Satellite supplies a link — it needs mains power and a clear sky, and it provides no local computing or AI. Vicino AI provides the local service layer: reporting, safety confirmation, information sharing and on-device speech processing that keep working with no link at all. Many deployments use both.

Does our data leave the site?

Not unless you choose it. Messages, alerts and media are stored on the unit and served locally, which supports data sovereignty requirements. When a link is available the unit can synchronise to a central server so coordinators see a shared picture — that behaviour is configurable, not mandatory.
